Sono Andrea Pacini, nasco a Prato, nel 1979. Mi avvicino alla fotografia fin da piccolo, grazie a mia madre che riempie la casa con tante belle foto scattate con la sua amata Olympus analogica durante alcuni viaggi. Nonostante questo, inizialmente io sembro non condividere la stessa passione. Almeno fino a quando non inizio a girare l’Italia per andare ai concerti dei miei gruppi preferiti. È, infatti, grazie alla mia passione per la musica che mi avvicino per la prima volta alla fotografia.
È il 1996 e sul palco del Filaforum di Assago a Milano si esibiscono gli Smashing Pumpkings: c’ero anche io, per niente al mondo me li sarei persi! Inizio a scattare alcune foto perché voglio qualcosa che possa ricordarmi di quel momento. Successivamente, continuo ad andare ai concerti, sempre con la macchina fotografica nello zaino, nascosta fra i panini per non farmela sequestrare. I risultati sono scarsi, ma una cosa è certa: continuerò a scattare e a sperimentare per riuscire a rendere quegli istanti indelebili.
Con l’avvento del digitale, le cose si fanno ancora più interessanti, soprattutto per il fatto di poter vedere subito il risultato dello scatto appena catturato, così da poterci eventualmente riprovare o correggerlo.
Nel frattempo, studio e mi formo professionalmente come fotografo e videomaker anche in altri contesti, come sport estremi e street: imparo a confrontarmi, quindi, non solo con le situazioni di buio e luce a distanze elevate tipiche dei concerti, ma anche con soggetti in movimento a velocità elevate e dettagli a distanze ridotte.
E, piano piano, maturo sempre di più la consapevolezza che quello che vado cercando attraverso i miei scatti, ciò che davvero mi attrae, sono le persone che incontro con il loro modo di essere e di esprimersi così unico e straordinario, al di là di situazioni e contesti.
Nel prendere consapevolezza come professionista, mi sono reso conto che spesso mi trovo spontaneamente a mettere il soggetto sulla destra dell’inquadratura, cosa che ho iniziato ad attribuire al fatto di essere mancino. Ricordo che, da bambino, facevo disegni rovesciati, tipo con il sole in basso e le case in alto o scrivevo il nome partendo dalla destra del foglio.
Non amante della post-produzione, la mia mission è quella di continuare a mostrare la realtà del comportamento umano attraverso la cattura dell’attimo nella sua spontaneità più vera, senza alterarne l’autenticità. A dimostrazione di quanto la strada sia lo spettacolo più vivi ed affascinanti al quale assistere, ricco di storie da raccontare.
I am Andrea and I was born in Prato, in 1979. I first knew photography as a child, thanks to my mother who used to fill our house with many beautiful photos taken during some trips with her beloved analogue Olympus. Despite this, I did not seem to share the same passion of my mother. At least until I started traveling around Italy to get to my favorite bands’ concerts. Thanks to my passion for music, in fact, I approached photography for the first time.
It was 1996 and at the Assago Filaforum in Milan the Smashing Pumpkings were on stage: I was also there, I wouldn’t have missed it for anything in this world! I started by taking some photos because I wanted something to remind me of that moment. Later on, I kept on getting to concerts, always with my camera in my backpack, hidden among the sandwiches in order to avoid the security checks. The results were poor, but one thing was certain: I would continue to shoot and try to finally succeed and create indelible moments.
With the advent of the digital photography, things became even more interesting, especially since you could immediately see the result of your shots and eventually try again or correct.
In the meantime, I went on studing and growing professionally as a photographer and videomaker also in other types of contexts, like extreme sports and street photography: I could therefore manage both darkness and light at long distances, typical of concerts, as well as subjects at high speed motion and short distance details.
Little by little, I started to develop the awareness that what I was always looking for through my shots, what was really catching my eye, were the people I met, with their unique and extraordinary way of being and expressing themselves, beyond any situation and context.
As I became more aware as a professional, I started to realize that I often found myself spontaneously placing the subject on the right of the frame, which I began to attribute to being left-handed. I remember that, when I was a child, I made upside-down drawings, in which the sun was at the bottom and the house at the top or I used to write my name starting from the right side of the paper.
Not a post-production fan, my mission is to continue to show the Human’s behavior through the catching of the moment in its higher spontaneity, without altering its authenticity. Proving that the road is the most fascinating streaming to watch, full of stories to tell.
